Have you been on Instagram lately and heard the term "preset", but wasn't quite sure what that is or what it means? Well, you aren't alone!
Presets have been around for a while now, but have recently expanded much further than your average fashion blogger or professional photographer. Presets are now becoming an everyday necessity.....well......if you live on social media that is.
So what is a preset you ask? Do you know the cute little filters that are available for you when you go to post a photo on Instagram? Well, those are considered presets (or filters)! Presets are a fun word to describe a filter that has been created to modify you photo with a combination of brightening, darkening and saturation editing. Really all you need to know about them is that they make your pictures really pretty with no effort at all!
Now where can you find the fancy presets everyone talks about? They are downloaded (by you) onto an app called LightRoom!

This perfect little app allows you to download all of your favorite presets to one place AND allows you to store your edited photos in the app as well! Yay!
I don't have the time to get into the HOW for downloading the presets, but I will explain why you need to give it a shot.
I use the preset package from Etsy called Pastel Presets by KalaRathPhotography. You can purchase this set here.
These are my personal favorite since I love bright and airy looking photos!
Okay, now that you have your presets, lets get into the WHY of this whole thing. Editing before and afters!
Lets start here with our BEFORE photo:
This is what it will look like when you add your photo to the app. Once your photo is uploaded, you will scroll at the bottom to find the word PRESETS. Click on the word Presets to access all of the different "filters" that you have stored. The set I linked has 15 different presets for you, all with a different tone and brightness.

Can you see the differences? Nice isn't it!!?!?!
Now, if you kind of know what you are doing, you can even play around a little with the settings to make your photo 100% the way you like it. This means adjusting the color tones, brightness and all other photo things.
If you are someone who used social media as an income producer, creative outlet, professional marketing or photography, you SERIOUSLY need to try out filters and see how much they truly transform your life!
Once you have picked the perfect preset for you photo, click download and save it right back to your phone so you can share it all over social media!
